Mortal remains of avalanche martyr reach Bengaluru

The mortal remains of Sandeep Kumar, a soldier from the state who died in an avalanche at Gurez Valley in Jammu and Kashmir, were brought to the city in a special flight on Tuesday night.

The flight landed at the HAL airport around 8.30 pm. The remains were later taken to his native Devihalli in Hassan by a special vehicle. The funeral will take place on Wednesday with full state honours.

Sandeep Kumar (28) was a sepoy in the Indian Army for the last eight years. He was born on July 21, 1989 to Puttaraju and Gangamma. Sandeep is survived by his parents and a sister. His mariage was scheduled for February 21.
