PUC student killed in accident

An 18-year-old student was killed and his three classmates were injured in a road accident when they were returning home after writing second PUC examination on Thursday afternoon.

The incident took place near Kudlu Gate near Madiwala. They all were going on a single bike.

The police said the deceased was Arun Kumar. The injured have been identified as Kumaresh, Arun and Subhash, all residents of Madiwala and students of Government Pre-university College at Madiwala. They were returning home after writing the examination at Agara Pre-university College.

Around 2 pm, Kumaresh borrowed his friend’s bike. He asked Kumar, Arun and Subhash to accompany him, as he would drop them near their house. Kumaresh was riding the bike while Kumar, Subhash and Arun were riding pillion. As they were going, a speeding lorry hit the bike from behind. Kumaresh lost control over the bike and all of them fell down. The lorry run over Kumar and he died on the spot, the police said.

The passersby shifted them to a nearby private hospital where the doctors declared Kumar dead.

Kumaresh, Arun and Subhash escaped with minor injuries, the police added.
The passersby nabbed the lorry driver Arjun who was trying to flee the spot. They thrashed him before handing him over to the police. It is learnt that four students were going on a single bike and Arjun was driving in a reckless manner, the police said.
A case has been registered in HSR Layout traffic police station.
