Cubbon park gets a colourful makeover

Cubbon park got a colourful makeover on Wednesday, thanks to the efforts of over 100 children who joined hands with 500 volunteers to revive the city’s green landmark.

As part of the cleaning and restoration drive, the children along with the volunteers cleaned and weeded the park’s premises. They also painted the walls in the kids section of the park’s premises.

The massive clean-up drive was organised by Youth for Seva, a city-based organisation in collaboration with Dell EMC as part of their ‘legacy for good’ initiative.

“It is for the first time that I am participating such a massive cleaning campaign. I have taken part in cleaning of my school’s premises and similar events. Through this message we want to spread the message of ‘ clean city, green city’. If all of us join hands to clean the city, we can make it cleanest city in the country,” said Sheetal K, a student of class 8 who participated in the drive.

“This initiative is part of a series of activities being undertaken by Dell under the theme of ‘ Legacy of Good’ to mark the Earth Day on April 22.  Under the theme we had also cleaned the Seegehalli lake and Kaikondrahalli lake in Bengaluru.” said Sarv Saravanan, senior vice president at Dell EMC India Centre of Excellence.

“This is a great opportunity to give back to the society. I tend to come to cubbon park often with my friends and often find that some parts of the part are littered with garbage. We only take about the problems and blame the govt for the same instead of doing something about it ourselves. This was a golden opportunity for me to do something for my city that I am proud to be a part of,” said Divya Sen,  a volunteer who participated in the event.

“ It gives me tremendous joy to be a part of this event. Events like these help us to do our bit for our city and the country at large,” said Niraj Malhotra , a volunteer at the event.
