M Thambidurai calls on TN governor amid AIADMK merger talks

With merger of two AIADMK warring faction is almost on the cards, Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker M Thambidurai called on Tamil Nadu governor C Vidyasagar Rao on Thursday morning.

Though Thambidurai, who accompanied by finance minister D Jayakumar, termed the meeting as a courtesy call and did not discuss about political issues, AIADMK sources here said that the Lok Sabha member explained the governor about the latest developments especially within the AIADMK factions.

AIADMK sources further said that Thambidurai also explained the governor about the decision of ministers, led by Edappadi Palaniswami, to completely sideline Dhinakaran and his family member from the party.

In addition, Thambidurai has reportedly briefed Rao about the possible merger of the two AIADMK groups with rebel leader and former chief minister O Panneerselvam camp is likely to join the government.

The meeting between Thambidurai and the governor also comes a day after AIADMK "Amma" deputy secretary TTV Dinakaran deciding to stay way from the party affairs.

Meanwhile, Panneerselvam held discussion with the senior leaders about the demands that has to be laid during the possible meeting with the Edapaddi Palaniswami's group with regard to the merger.
