BBMP to HC: will open Kodigehalli-Thindlu underpass in 4 months

Last Updated 27 April 2017, 20:25 IST

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on Thursday informed the High Court of Karnataka that it would complete the underpass between Kodigehalli and Thindlu in four months.

The BBMP made the submission to a petition filed by the residents of Kodigehalli seeking directions to the Palike to complete the work as it has been delayed for long.

The petitioners have said that since the Railways is constructing an over-bridge, the access road was blocked. The residents have petitioned the BBMP seeking an alternative route. Despite repeated reminders, there has been no action from the BBMP. Justice Anand Byrareddy directed to include the Railways as a party in the petition and adjourned the hearing.

Ban on eucalyptus
The high court has issued notice to the state government on a petition challenging the government's decision not to allow mass plantation of eucalyptus trees in the state. Residents of Kolar have approached the court questioning the government's decision contending that it cannot take a decision which affects people. Justice A S Bopanna ordered notice in the matter.
