Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha leader Vatal Nagaraj, on Sunday, urged the state government to give a compensation to the coconut farmers in the region.

After visiting the farmlands at Amachavadi and Honnahalli, he was speaking to reporters. Nagaraj said, due to severe drought, coconut trees have been damaged and the farmers are under stress, due to loss of crops.

He said, “The cattle and farmers are facing hardships to get drinking water as ponds and lakes have dried up. He blamed the officials of Chamarajanagar taluk for failing to take up precautionary measures to provide drinking water to the villagers.”

Nagaraj said, the state government is neglecting the farming community and is delaying in distribution of compensation. Leaders Dalapati Veeratappa, Nagarajmurthy and Nagesh were present.
