A complaint has been filed with the Income Tax (I-T) department, seeking a probe into the ‘benami assets’ of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s son Dr Yathindra Siddaramaiah, through two firms.

The complaint says the transactions were through Matrix Imaging Solutions Private Limited (MISPL), Bengaluru. and its initiatives in medical tourism and diagnostic centres in Karnataka, Maharashtra and Goa.

Varthur Kanaka Dasa, an RTI activist, has lodged the complaint with the I-T Investigation Wing (Karnataka and Goa), seeking a probe into money laundering and benami property transactions by Yathindra and MISPL’s two directors Chitrahalli Mudalagiriyappa Rajesh Gowda and Malagonnahalli Uddappa Tejaswini, under the Benami Property Transactions Act, 1988.

Dasa says Yathindra conducted benami transactions worth hundreds of crores of rupees in the names of the two directors. They often travelled abroad for the transfer of funds and routed the funds back to India for medical tourism business.

The funds should be investigated to ascertain if the sources were political or real estate. The link between Yathindra, the two directors and the purchase of properties worth hundreds of crores of rupees in Mumbai and Mysuru should also be probed, the complaint said.
