Congress state working president Dinesh Gundu Rao’s tweets about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP have evoked sharp criticism from a section of BJP leaders.

Rao, in one his tweets said bangles should be sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “J&K is burning...terror attacks every day. Pak attacks us with impunity. Even Myanmar doesn’t fear us...Will the BJP in Karnataka protest?” he had tweeted. “Not only blouse but even bangles need to be sent,” he had stated in his tweet.

‘Disgraceful remarks’

In retaliation, state BJP Yuva Morcha general secretary Thammesh Gowda said Rao has made disgraceful remarks.

“By saying bangles should be sent to the PM, he has said women are weak and submissive. He has insulted the entire womanhood, Gowda said. Gowda also reminded Rao that the Congress party is headed by a woman, Sonia Gandhi.

The morcha has decided to protest at all district headquarters on Sunday against Rao’s comments.
Rao, in his reply, tweeted that he had just reminded the BJP what Union Minister Smriti Irani had remarked against Manmohan Singh and with reference to the 56-inch chest of Narendra Modi. “Where’s the bravado gone (of BJP)?” he asked.
