The city police on Tuesday detained Jagadish alias Jagga alias Tami (35) under the provisions of the Karnataka Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Bootleggers, Drug-Offenders, Gamblers, Goondas, Immoral Traffic Offenders and Slum-Grabbers Act.

Currently, Jagadish is lodged in Central Prison at Parappana Agrahara. Jagadish, a history-sheeter at Kamakshipalya, Basaveshwaranagar and Halasuru police stations, is involved in 13 criminal cases, including three murders, two extortions, robbery, abduction and assaults.

The police arrested Jagadish several times and sent him to the prison. However, he obtained bail and repeated his criminal activities. Hence, the police deemed it necessary to detain him to ensure the public order. Based on a report, City Police Commissioner Praveen Sood passed an order directing the police to detain him.
