Rock the concert wardrobe

Comfort dressing

The city is known for its happening concerts and performances, with many especially coming to Bengaluru to attend one. Every concert has a different vibe and tribe and one has to dress accordingly.

Youngsters in the city talk about some key essentials to keep in mind in order to avoid a fashion faux pas at concerts.

Rock, hiphop and indie concerts call for a lot of headbanging and dancing. In fact, the entire concert atmosphere is about glorifying the band or singer’s theme and one would certainly want to be a part of the excitement. Snigdha Bhowmik, an aspiring fashion student, says, “Anything short and easy to breathe in like a well-fitted crop top or a sleeveless cotton top over shorts would be a perfect go-to! A comfortable pair of shoes should be your first choice since you will most probably be standing for a long time.”

Ripped clothes and lace are also trending as of now. Team up your favourite pair of ripped jeans with the band or artiste’s tee for a casual yet chic look.

On the other hand, EDM and techno concerts find people packed together, with hands in the air and sweat flying from every corner. Though the dress code for concerts is pretty relaxed and you can wear whatever you want, it’s best to stick to simple and bright attires.

“Put on a bright coloured tank top or a crop top along with tights. With a few accessories to match, nothing will get in your way for the day. Carry a leather or denim jacket to complete your look and protect you from the cold,” says Vaishnavi Chandran Menon, an 18-year-old model, actor, dancer and winner of ‘Princess South India 2015’.

All-day music festivals and concerts are also on the rise and what better than a simple sundress to do the magic? “Coachella inspired looks are high on the trending list. They are comfortable and hep,” says Jheel Ranka, an avid fashion follower. Add a feminine necklace and bracelet to complete your girl-next-door look. Don’t forget those strappy sandals either.

Asked about the three must-have items to carry to a concert and Snigdha says, “Carry a light backpack or cross body satchel with a power bank, wet wipes and other necessary but permissable items.” Aliya Thomas, a young fashionista, says, “Heels, over- accessorising and makeup are a complete ‘no-no’ when you’re about to hit a concert.” Many agree to this saying it’s an inconvenience and keeps you conscious of your appearance all the time.

So it looks like ‘less is more’ is the mantra when it comes to concert dressing. Ladies! Be choosy after all! It only seems to be working better for you.
