A mobility hub has been planned in Shivajinagar at an estimated cost of Rs 140 crore, Minister for Urban Development R Roshan Baig said on Saturday.

The mobility hub will cover the area from Shivajinagar stadium to Russell Market. Janaagraha, a non-governmental organisation, will prepare and oversee the development of the mobility hub.

Speaking at ‘Janaspandana – Citizens for Change’, Baig urged people to be attentive to their surroundings and keep a track of the public works announced in the budget.

“We want accountability in public works. Most of the public works have been uploaded on government websites. You visit there and obtain information. If you come across something wrong, complain about it and file PILs. Contractors who siphon off public money should be blacklisted,” he said. In view of the increasing traffic problem, he appealed to people to reduce the use of private vehicles and switch to public transport.

Baig praised DH and Prajavani for organising the interactive programme where he could get to know the civic problems faced by people. “I grew up reading DH and Prajavani. These two newspapers stand for authenticity and accountability,” he said.
