CM worried over deficient monsoon

Last Updated 22 June 2017, 06:57 IST

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday expressed concern over deficient monsoon in the state.

“I have been praying for rain every day...Though it is more than a fortnight since the monsoon arrived in the state, many parts of the state have not received enough rain,” he stated in the Legislative Assembly. The Malnad and the south interior Karnataka have not received much rainfall.

“There is hardly any inflow into the KRS reservoir. The water level in the Kabini reservoir has increased by only three feet. I think India Meteorological Department’s monsoon forecast is likely to go wrong,” he added. Many members, on both the Opposition and the Treasury benches, said it has not rained in their constituencies.
