District Sunni Jamaeth Union secretary Abdul Rehman Razwi alleged that the school was unnecessarily imposing restrictions that make no sense. It is also not allowing the girls to wear burqa, he said.

Principal Deidra S Maben said the restriction was not limited only to Muslim children. Children belonging to all communities have been told not to apply mehandi. “If applying mehandi is necessary, parents should seek permission before hand in writing” she said.
