General Motors India on Monday announced that it has begun regular shipment of the sedan version of the Chevrolet Beat from its Talegaon export hub to markets in Latin America.

On Monday, a consignment of 1,200 Beat sedans was loaded for shipping to Latin America, following the start of production on June 5, 2017.

“Our Talegaon facility is a key export manufacturing hub for GM,” General Motors India Vice President (Manufacturing) Asif Khatri said in a statement.

“GM India’s exports have more than tripled in the past year, with the company being India’s third largest passenger vehicle exporter in May — recording our highest monthly vehicle exports at 8,297 units,” he added.

Earlier this year, GM India began exporting the Beat hatchback to Latin American markets.

“We are very happy with the launch readiness. Our highly skilled and committed workforce at Talegaon has developed a mindset of zero defect to delight customers,” Khatri said.

It must be noted that last month, GM India had announced that it would cease sales in the domestic market by the end of this year, and lay focus on its growing vehicle export manufacturing operations.
