One killed, 2 injured as drunk KSRTC bus driver hits auto

A 29-year-old woman was killed on the spot and two were injured when a KSRTC bus collided with an autorickshaw in which they were travelling in Yedahalli on the outskirts of the city on Wednesday.

The bus driver Parappa was found drunk. He was chewing flavoured pan to conceal the odour, the police said.

The deceased has been identified as Devika, a resident of Yedahalli. The two autorickshaw passengers who were injured are Siddamma and Ravi. Auto driver Dhyanendra escaped with minor injuries, the police said.

The bus was heading towards Hosadurga in Chitradurga district from Bengaluru, carrying 25 passengers, when the accident occurred.

Bus driver thrashed

Due to the impact of the collision, the autorickshaw was completely mangled. Injured passengers and the driver were rushed to a nearby hospital. Passersby gathered at the accident spot, thrashed Parappa and handed him over to the Nelamangala traffic police.

As the news of accident spread, hundreds of people gathered at the accident spot and staged a protest.

The Dobbspet police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. The Nelamangala traffic police have registered a case in this regard.
