Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike on Wednesday submitted to the High Court of Karnataka that over 240 illegal advertising hoardings along with the structures have been removed.

Hearing a batch of petitions filed by advertising agencies, Justice Vineet Kothari granted two weeks time for BBMP to collect the advertisement tax with penalty and interest from the advertising agencies. If the agencies fail to pay within the stipulated time, then the Palike can serve demand notices on them and initiate the further proceedings.

Justice Kothari is hearing a batch petitions wherein Shine Outdoor Media, an advertising agency, and others, have challenged the demand notices issued by BBMP. The judge had passed an order framing certain guidelines in tax collection.

The judge directed BBMP to file the next status report in the next hearing after two weeks.
