Soon after the state government shunted out senior prison officials, six photographs of five rooms claimed to have been given to jailed AIADMK (Amma) leader V K Sasikala on the first floor of the women’s barrack in the Bengaluru Central Prisons at Parappana Agrahara, were leaked to the media on Monday.

According to prison sources, all the five rooms, with curtains for hiding the prison bars, were being shared by Sasikala and Elavarasi - both convicted in the disproportionate assets case. These rooms are being used by the two convicts as Yoga room, TV room, kitchen, living room and office. The two spend their time in these five rooms on the first floor, which have been barricaded from other rooms on the same floor.

In one of the photographs, said to be of Sasikala’s dedicated kitchen, there is a shelf with some utensils including a pressure cooker, a few jars which seemed to contain oil, coffee powder and tea leaves.

There were also clothes, mattresses and other accessories made available for her. In one of the photographs, there were chairs upon which documents were piled up.

The prison authorities neither confirmed nor denied that these photographs were of Sasikala’s rooms.

A source from the prison said that there is a Hopcoms outlet and a canteen at the central prison from where inmates buy snacks and other items which they stock in their cell. And a leaked photograph could reflect that in one of Sasikala’s room.
