It’s a ‘di-angular rom-com’, as per the film’s tagline. And impressive too. Ondu Roopayalli Eradu Preethi — the film gives two interesting love stories for a single rupee.

Playing mind games with audiences, Dayal Padmanabhan comes up with an entertaining and educative film that will have them ruminating long after they leave the theatre. What is more important — friendship or love?

Inspired by Sholay’s coin-tossing sequence between Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra, director Padmanabhan cleverly weaves the concept into Toss to focus on two strands of romance.

Madhav Murthy, who works in a registrar’s office, and Sandeep Gowda, a used car showroom owner, are bosom buddies.

For them, friendship matters more than choosing the love of their lives. The two are drawn towards a petite Poornima Prasad — a bookstore owner and dancer who does not believe in friendship. Being friends, and not wanting to hurt the other, they decide to toss to see who would woo the lady.

Revealing more would spoil the party. Charmingly enacted by Vijay Raghavendra, Sandeep and Ramya Barna, Toss is a treat.
