‘Polinkana Utsava’ was observed with religious fervour at Triveni Sangama in Bhagamandala on Sunday.

Offerings were made to River Cauvery after special prayers were offered at the Bhagandeshwara Temple.

The ‘mantapa’, prepared out of plantain stems and containing auspicious items such as mangala sutra, glass bangles, saree and turmeric, was released to the river, in the presence of a host of devotees. The ritual is observed every year when the river is in spate.

Priests Kusha Bhat and Harish Bhat led the religious proceedings.

Devatakka Kodimotaiah, Balladka Appaji and temple executive officer Jagadish Kumar, Parupattedar Ponnana and others were present on the occasion.
