CMC commissioner directed to chalk out drinking water project

Drinking water is supplied through tankers in 75 villages of Kadur and 19 villages in Chikkamagaluru taluks, said Deputy Commissioner G Satyavathi.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, she said that Malnad has received bountiful rain. Chances of Kadur, Tarikere and Birur facing acute shortage of water is high with less rainfall, she said. The water-level in Hirekolale lake has declined. The City Municipal Council (CMC) commissioner has been directed to chalk out a project for drinking water, she said.

Deputy Commissioner Satyavati said that farmers have been demanding for a fodder bank at Panchanahalli. There are 1,700 cattle at Panchanahalli goshala. The state government has given an approval to run a goshala for 90 days, she informed. To continue the goshala further, permission needs to be taken from the state government, the deputy commissioner explained.

Further, she said that there are two fodder banks in Chikkamagaluru taluk. It is said the fodder bank at APMC premises is not of much benefit. An attempt is being made to shift it to other place, she said. It has been proposed to grow fodder at Amruthmahal Kaval, she added.

The deputy commissioner said that instances of drought relief amount being credited to non-beneficiaries’ bank account has been reported in Panchanahalli in Kadur taluk. There are allegations against the village Aaccountant on the issue.

The tahsildar has been directed to submit a primary investigation report into the issue, she said.

The deputy commissioner said that the rafting in Bhadra River has been suspended as the organisers were not training in river rafting. A short-term tender will be given to those with training in river rafting, she said.

On the poor quality of MG Road and Market Road works, she said that a technical committee has been constituted to look into the issue.
