SDPI workers conducted a protest alleging that BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa and MP Shobha Karandlaje have been fueling the communal incidents in Dakshina Kannada, at Indira Gandhi Circle in Madikeri on Monday.

They also urged the MPs Shobha Karandlaje and Nalin Kumar Kateel to tender their resignations.

SDPI district committee president Amin Mohisin said that the communal tensions in Dakshina Kannada led to the murder of two innocent people and 12 stabbing incidents. Despite imposition of prohibitory orders MP Shobha Karandlaje and MP Nalin Kumar Kateel took part in a protest meet in Kalladka, which resulted in the situation getting worse.

PFI general secretary Harris said that the BJP MPs have been accusing SDPI and PFI of being involved in the murder of a Hindu activist, even though the case is being investigated by the Police department.

The protestors demanded the repealing of the Parliamentary membership of Karandlaje and Yeddyurappa. The BJP leaders and Sangh Pariwar have been creating anarchy in the state, they said. CMC member Mansoor Ali, leaders Liyaquat Ali, Abdul Adkar and Ibrahim were present.
