Doordarshan has initiated a move to replace its iconic logo with a new one “to reflect the aspirations of new India”.
The public broadcaster has issued a notification for holding an open contest, inviting people to come up with a new design for its logo.
The winner of the ‘Logo Design Contest for Doordarshan– 2017’ will get a prize of Rs 1 lakh. The last date for submission of entries is August 13, it said. The current logo of Doordarshan, which symbolises the human eye, has been in existence since 1959.
“The new logo, while recalling the strong nostalgia associated with the DD brand, should reflect the aspirations of new India,” it said, specifying the theme for its new logo. Any Indian national can participate in designing a new logo for “the flagship Doordarshan brand”.
