Nitish to seek trust vote on Friday

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will seek a trust vote in the Assembly on Friday. A one-day session has been convened on July 28 where Nitish, now heading an NDA government, will move a vote of confidence.

This was decided at a Cabinet meeting here chaired by Nitish and attended by his deputy Sushil Kumar Modi. Since no other ministers were sworn in on Thursday, there was no other politician at the meet. “The Cabinet annulled its earlier order to convene Monsoon session of Assembly from July 28. Under the new dispensation, it was decided to hold a one-day House session on Friday where trust vote would take place,” said Principal Secretary, Cabinet Coordination, Brajesh Mehrotra.

Nitish enjoys the support of 71 JD (U) MLAs besides 53 BJP legislators, two MLAs each from LJP and RLSP and one HAM legislator, Jitan Ram Manjhi, in the 243-member House. The RJD, which has 80 MLAs, has decided to move court after it was denied the chance to form the government despite being single largest party in the Assembly.
