Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday condoled the death of former Karnataka Chief Minister Dharam Singh.
Rahul hailed Singh as a “people’s leader, with a distinguished career of over five decades”.
AICC General Secretary in-charge of Karnataka K C Venugopal said he was shocked by the death of Singh whom he had met only last week in Bengaluru.
He said Singh was a “strong leader” of the Congress from the Hyderabad-Karnataka region.
“Dharam Singhji proved his mettle as a good administrator during his tenure as a minister and later the chief minister of Karnataka,” he said.
Venugopal said Singh had the quality of carrying every section of the party along.
