'State to have more women's industrial parks'

Karnataka State Human Rights Commission takes up suo motu case

Additional Chief Secretary K Rathna Prabha has said that women's industrial parks, like the one coming up in Mysuru, will be established in other parts of the state too.

Addressing a gathering during the inaugural ceremony of Women in Industry and Business Empowerment (WIBE) in the city on Thursday, Rathna said that as women are demanding more parks, the government has decided to establish women's industrial parks in six places across the state.
She said the Industries department has identified 50 acres at Adakanahalli Industrial Area in Nanjangud taluk near Mysuru and taken a decision to establish a park soon.

She said a new industrial policy has provided special provisions for women. She urged women to make good use of the opportunity. Prabha said that with an investment of Rs 1.77 lakh crore, the state is on top in the country, followed by Gujarat which has Rs 86,000 crore.

Karnataka’s industrial policy is a model for the whole country and there are provisions to provide resources like water, land, electricity to set up industry at economical prices. She promised to provide funds for women entrepreneurs to conduct study tours to foreign countries.

Industrialists Suresh Kumar Jain, Subramanyam, Manjunath and Srishyla Ramanna were felicitated on the occasion.
