Ahluwalia inspects economics school blueprint

Former deputy chairman of the Planning Commission, Montek Singh Ahluwalia inspected the blueprint for the Bengaluru Dr B R Ambedkar School of Economics (BASE) on Thursday.

Ahluwalia was in the city to enquire about the curriculum, quality of teaching, selection of faculty and other arrangements necessary before commencement of classes.

Ahluwalia met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the evening at his official residence ‘Cauvery’ on Kumara Krupa Road. The chief minister told Ahluwalia about the purpose of the institution and asked him for his suggestions and opinion.

According to sources, the state government has invited Ahluwalia to be the head of the Academic Council of the institution, which is being developed on the lines of the London School of Economics.
