Last Updated 27 July 2017, 20:15 IST

In a first-of-its-kind system, the process of distributing food materials to anganwadis has gone online in the district.

ZP Chief Executive Officer Dr R Ragapriya told reporters on Thursday that the project, launched on a pilot basis at Tarikere taluk in the district, was extended to all taluks in the district three months ago. The results are overwhelming, the officer added. A joint initiative of women and child development department and zilla panchayat, it is intended at ensuring speedy service and maintain transparency from start to finish, he said.

As the name online goes, the respective supervisors should upload the demand list online, after collecting related information from anganwadi workers. The accountants should verify and approve the demand list, that will be finally endorsed by child development planning officer (CDPO).

Barring accoutants, no others are vested with powers to make changes in the list if any, depending on the availability of stock. While the list will be prepared according to the demand, the route list will be prepared as per the centres followed by distribution of food materials.

It’s only after distributing the food materials, the transporters should collect the signatures of anganwadi development committee members and also angwanwadi workers on the receipt.

The anganwadi workers may cross check the receipt and the quantity of food distributed and bring it to the notice of supervisors in case of any disparity. The supervisors should upload the information on received quantity of food after confirming the same.

Deputy director of women and child development department  K C Basavarajaiah said the district also has the credit of being first in the state to install the software towards online process. There will be no scope for irregularities and makes the process easier further, he added.
