Many residents in Madiwala and Koramangala heaved a sigh of relief as the waterlogging happened on a holiday. Even as the country celebrated Independence Day, many complained that they were still not free from the problems of waterlogging.

Sitara Naidu, a resident of Koramangala 4th Block, said it would have been difficult for her to manage had it been a working day. “I would have had to take the day off if this had happened on a working day. I had planned to visit my friends today but removing water from my house has been tiring. I just want to catch some sleep,” said Sitara.

The plight of Nikhil Kumar, a resident of Maruthinagar in BTM Layout was different. “My roommates I and have been clearing water since early morning. We all had plans to go to a movie. But we are glad we are all at home today. I already have shortage of leaves and it would have burdened me more if it was a regular working day.” Unable to cope with work on their own, Nikhil and his friends hired a maid to help clear the water.
