Retail sector is the most sought-after industry in the job market, according to a recent report by QuikrJobs, a hiring platform for blue-collar and entry-level white-collar jobs.

While the retail industry witnessed 51% rise in job positions in the first quarter of this year, it was 53% in the second quarter. Banking, Financial services and insurance (BFSI) and hospitality sectors are also witnessing a rise in the percentage of job positions.

Job listings witnessed a significant increase in the months of April to July compared with the previous quarter (Q12017), the report added.

QuikrJobs analysed the data on the basis of job listings by recruiters and job applications by candidates on its platform. Data was collected in-house by its research team and correlated to the present job market scenario.

According to the hiring platform, job seekers remained constant in almost all the sectors over the past two quarters in this year.

It helps clients hire across hundreds of roles. It acquired Hiree, an online hiring platform focused on white collar jobs, in July 2016.

The platform gets 50% of its traffic from towns beyond the top metros. The report adds that the maximum jobs listed on its platform are for freshers and entry-level professionals.

In Bengaluru, there was 6% increase in job seekers in the second quarter of this year, compared with Chennai 5%, Delhi and Mumbai 7% each. Also, in case of job availability, Bengaluru witnessed 9% growth compared with Chennai 10%, Delhi and Mumbai 8% and 10%, respectively.
