The "ousted" AIADMK leader TTV Dhinakaran on Friday warned that he would take legal action if chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami convene party's general council meeting.

"It is illegal to conduct party's general council meeting without the consent of VK Sasikala, who has the powers to call for such meeting. If they conduct it, legal action will be taken", Dhinakaran said.

Claiming that as per Rule 20(6) of the party if one fifth of the members under Sec 19(7) give it in writing calling for convening such a meeting, Dhinakaran said the meeting will not have legal recognition.

Stating that the meeting was organised with the aim to create confusion among the AIADMK cadres as part of a 'conspiracy', the side lined AIADMK leader appealed to the party cadres not to attend the gathering and warned of legal action against those participating in it by violating his (Dhinakaran's) order.

Dhinakaran also claimed that the meeting convened by the ruling party, purposely to pass a resolution to remove Sasikala from the party.

Reacting to Dhinakaran's statement, deputy chief minister and unified AIADMK party chief co-ordinator O Panneerselvam said the general council meeting of the party will be conducted as per the schedule and no one could stop it.

"Threats would not prevent us in conducting our party's general council meeting. It will be organised on September 12", he added.

Meanwhile, chief minister Edappadi K palaniswami met his party legislators for the second day and discussed the strategy to counter Dhinakaran's move to dislodge the government.
