Women-driven Hoysala patrols coming soon

The city’s pink Hoysala patrol vehicles will soon be driven by women constables.

Two women constables from the Marathahalli police station have already received training at the wheel.

“Women now go on patrol with men colleagues. Once they receive their driving licences, they will take charge of the vehicles,” Prasanth Babu, inspector, told DH. The women constables expect to have their licences in hand in a couple of days. Each pink Hoysala will have two women staffers, besides the woman driver.

They will go on daytime patrols. The department places no other restrictions. The women will take up all tasks men now perform, Babu said.

“This initiative will further strengthen the self-confidence of women in our department.
