Munch on a millet delicacies at Pilikula

A two-day millets fair organised by Sri Dharmasthala Siri Gramodyoga, SKDRDP and Dr Shivaram Karanth Pilikula Nisargadhama attracted a lot of visitors here on Saturday.

The fair has been organised to introduce millets to the people of coastal belt.

The resource persons at the fair created awareness on the millets through demonstration on the preparation of food using millets. A variety of breakfast, lunch, sweets, rotis, dosas, soup, juice and chats using millets were exhibited on the occasion. The public also savoured the delicacies made of millets.

A Rs 200 coupon was announced as part of the fair. Those who had coupon can savour the delicacies and visit any wing in the Pilikula for two days. The value added products of millets are on sale. There was an overwhelming response from the general public for the fair.

Speaking after inaugurating the fair, MLA J R Lobo said, “Through millets fair, we are introducing the rich legacy left behind by our forefathers.”

The millets are highly nutritious and help in maintaining a healthy body, he said.

Mayor Kavitha Sanil, Taluk Panchayat president K Mohammed Monu, Pilikula Nisargadhama executive director V Prasanna and others were present.
