Karnataka invites investment in manufacturing

 The Karnataka government on Saturday invited the captains of Indian industry to invest in areas such as aerospace and defence equipment manufacturing, automobiles, auto components and electric vehicles, among other sectors.

Addressing a roadshow in Pune on the upcoming vendor development and investors' summit organised by the state government on November 23 and 24 in Bengaluru, industries minister R V Deshpande highlighted investment opportunities in these sectors. He outlined the potential for investments in these sectors in the state.

During the day-long event, the minister held discussions with a galaxy of industrialisings including Baba Kalyani, MD, Bharat Forge Ltd, Shishir Joshipura, MD, SKF India Ltd, Suhas Kadlaskar, Director, Mercedes Benz and Sanjay Bohra, CFO, Force Motors Ltd, among others.

The summit will act as a common platform for CPSUs, SPSUs, mega and large units in identifying vendors of their choice in terms of production capacity and quality standards. This meet will also help MSMEs understand the need of the OEMs, Deshpande said.

Ths summit will also facilitate the participating companies in exploring the investment opportunities in the state of Karnataka and firm up their new and expansion investment proposals with the state government in terms of project approvals or MoUs, he said.

The delegation led by Deshpande held B2G meetings with 14 companies covering various sectors.

D V Prasad, additional chief secretary to government of Karnataka, in his address, emphasised on the initiatives undertaken by the state government to develop the ecosystem for the overall industrial development with special focus on the MSME sectors.

Deepak Sood, CEO, Invest Karnataka Forum, made a presentation on 'Enabling manufacturing ecosystem of Karnataka.'
