The Third Additional District and Sessions Court on Wednesday made Sunil Bose, son of Minister for Public Works H C Mahadevappa, an accused in the case of aiding and abetting Mines and Geology Department officials to take bribe in an illegal sand transportation case.

The court also ordered Bose, second accused, to be present before it on September 26. In 2016, the sessions court had ordered Bose and his friend Raju as accused.

But Bose had approached high court questioning the order. The high court had quashed the lower court order, but directed to continue with the proceedings. As the session court found strong evidence against Bose, it made him an accused as he had threatened the witnesses.

The Lokayukta police had registered a case against Raju and Alphonse, aides of Bose and government employees attached to the Department of Mines and Geology. Complainant Basavaraju had charged that Alphonse was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe on behalf of Bose from Basavaraju in an illegal sand mining incident.
