A mother-of-two was “abused and showed the middle finger” by a group of three while she was driving her two teenage children back from school.

Sunanda, of Banaswadi, saw a car near Thom’s Bakery on St John’s Road, east Bengaluru, around 4 pm on September 12. A man was frantically waving out of the car’s window. She got curious and thought he needed help. She drove up there only to realise that three people, including a woman, were actually partying in the car. The woman was at the wheel.

She decided to move on and accelerated. At the next signal, however, the car pulled right next to her automobile. “The man on the passenger seat showed me the middle finger while the other two hurled waves of abuse,” Sunanda told DH. She started filming them on her mobile phone. The man and the woman started kissing. The man even offered alcohol to Sunanda by showing a bottle of Captain Morgan White Rum.

As the signal turned green, the car was driven rashly. Sunanda decided to follow them for some distance and film them. The man in the passenger seat even spit out alcohol on pedestrians, she added.

At one point, the car slowed down and the man caught a pedestrian and poured alcohol on his head. When the car reached Halasuru, near MEG Gate, Sunanda dialled 100. But by the time the Hoysala patrol car arrived, the car sped off.

She filed a complaint with the jurisdictional Halasuru police who registered a non-cognisable complaint and are looking into the incident. “This nuisance happened on a 2-km stretch. Several CCTV cameras have recorded the incident,” Sunanda said and urged the police to take action
