The grunge and the gothic

Last Updated 24 September 2017, 18:29 IST
The brand has tried to explore a bouquet of global trends like ‘Peace Army’ and ‘Glam Rock’ with its edgy styling.

This season’s collection captures the military trend with a feminine touch with highlights being lacy inserts, extra-long fringes, waterfall and choker necklines, back embroidery on classic white shirts, scarf prints and flared sleeves.

Some signature pieces in the collection include military shacket with quirky metal badges, camo-hooded long shrugs, sleeveless trenches, leather strappy long and pleated metallic dresses which are the trend this season.

Exploring fashion for the wanderer is the latest collection which is stirred by the heritage and culture of this country where garments are in handcrafted textiles and techniques in soft cheesecloth, rayon, embroidered laces and crochet knits. These can be seen in shades of pink and garden-inspired tones to soft neutral aruba blue, corals and lime.

Kamakshi Kaul, vice-president (design), Max Fashion, says, “Being a fast-fashion brand, designs have always been an important part of our brand. We check out all trends in the international market while creating our looks.”

The theme of the latest collection is gothic and grunge and the materials in the line are a lot of mesh, tulle and faux leather. “Glitter and glamour are integral parts of our stories; there is a lot of metallic and shine which is seen in the collection,” she adds.

Metallic is a big hit this season. From gunmetal to silver, gold and shiny pastels, the brand’s latest line sees a mix of unique shapes, fabrics and colour ways.

“The 70s and 90s nostalgia is something else that we are looking into. The must-haves in the collection include the tulle pieces and biker jackets,” she adds. With a touch of gothic, black is the base colour and dark colours are coming to the horizon, due to the season.
