Srirangapatna fort wall collapses again

 Incessant rain for the past three days led to the collapse of a portion of the Srirangapatna Fort for the second time on Tuesday night.

A portion of Srirangapatna Fort and Sendhil Kote had collapsed on Monday and Tuesday respectively. On Tuesday, a few houses collapsed in Mandya district. Several lakes in the district also breached. 

The Virija Canal overflowed near Melapura at 33rd km from the village, creating anxiety among the people. It inundated the sugarcane and paddy fields here.

The roof of the 80-year-old Sri Rama temple on the banks or Lokapavani river also
collapsed due to heavy rain while a few houses collapsed at K R Pet taluk. Nagamangala, Pandavapura, Srirangapatna, Malavalli, K R Pet and Mandya taluks.

Hassan city and surrounding areas experienced intermittent rain on Tuesday night. Holenarasipur and Konanur too received good rain.

Chamarajanagar district experienced a good spell of rain on Tuesday night. However, no rain damages were reported from Hassan and Chamarajanagar districts.
