Thefts from baggages loaded in aircraft are not uncommon and now there is video evidence of the practice.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Monday shared two videos - one of 45 seconds and another 1minute  minute 33 seconds - on Twitter to show that some unscrupulous baggage handlers are indulging in theft while loading them.

Uploading the videos that showed a handler unzipping some baggages, Singh tweeted, "our luggage in the flights safe or not?" This video has gone viral.

Singh has not said from where he got the video and whether he had checked its authenticity and other details or not.

The videos show a baggage handler trying to open one and then leaving it. He was then seen opening another bag, checking the contents and trying to steal some articles.

The date on which the video was shot is not known. Similarly, it is also not clear in which airport this incident took place.

There have been a series of complaints from passengers about missing items from their check-in baggages.

Frisking of ground handling staff while leaving airport, prohibition of use of mobile phones in the airside by ground-handling staff and deployment of airline security staff in the baggage make-up area are among the measures taken to ensure that bag thefts do not happen. CCTV surveillance is also helping them crack many bag theft cases, officials said.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation had admitted in Parliament that there have been such incidents reported from various airports.
