Jaydeep Mitra from Silchar, Assam is convinced that he has found his second home in Bengaluru.

He came into the city for his graduation and the city’s cosmopolitan character bowled him over. Since then, he vouches that life has been an interesting ride.

Jaydeep, who works as a manager with a bank, lives here with his wife Mou Senroy from Bongaigaon. She works as a talent acquisition lead with Microland.

From his graduation days to now Jaydeep has had an interesting journey.  “I had the time of my life during my college days. Having grown up at an unrestful place, I began to appreciate the smallest of things,” he says.

After being blessed with a job right after his degree, he felt that his life was mapped out well, right in front of him.

“I adapted to things easily and never thought of leaving this city,” he says.

He met Mou during a train journey back home and their romance bloomed soon after. After a few years, Mou moved to the city for her MBA course.

She says, “The city gave me everything that I hold dear to my life. Apart from good educational and job opportunities, my relationship with Jaydeep blossomed here. I will always be thankful to Bengaluru for this.”

Soon after her course, Mou found a good job here and stayed on.

“The city is a big fashion hub. Even on the streets one can stop fashion trends. There are so many places to explore here like Commercial Street, Jayanagar market, Dubai Plaza, Brigade Road and Tibetan Market, Koramangala,” she says.

Being a classical dancer, Mou holds art close to her. “I knew that Bengaluru would be a great place to explore Carnatic music and learn about other artforms,” she adds.

Jaydeep says, “When I was working in my first company, my colleagues were like my local guardians. They were there for everything.” He adds that people are always ready to help here. “Bengalureans are selfless people.”

Mou pitches in, “This is a safe city. I’ve always felt welcome here. Last year, when there were some tension here, people around me made sure that I reached home safely. It was endearing to see how people reached out to each other.”

Jaydeep finds the cosmopolitan nature of the city a blessing. “I have friends from all corners of the country here and have never felt out of place. From learning about different cultures to accepting the differences in communities, I grew here as a person,” he says.

Everything was available here, which made the city more exciting. The nightlife is quite eventful,” he adds.

When the duo have some time to spare, they like pubbing at ‘Brewsky’, ‘Underpass Pub’, ‘Bottle Breacher Bar & Kitchen’.

“Our favourite eating joints are ‘Barbeque Nation’, ‘Bhojohori Manna’ and ‘Chung Wah’. Apart from restaurants, we also spend time on MG Road and Brigade Road,” Mou lists out.

The duo’s love for travelling have taken them out of the city during short breaks.

“The city has many beautiful places around it. We love going to Shivanasamudra Falls and Hogenakkal Falls. Sometimes, we just drive to ‘Rasta Cafe’,” adds Jaydeep.

The couple love how the city has blessed them with the best in life. “Life is a party here,” says Mou.
