Bagina offered to Victoria lake

District In-charge Minister H K Patil offered Bagina to the Victoria lake at Dambal in Gadag district on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, he stated that Victoria tank has been filled by drawing water from Tungabhadra under the Singatalur lift-irrigation.

The tank is brimming and if a canal is constructed up to five kms, additional 500 acre land could get irrigation.

The tender process for implementation of sensitive irrigation to 10,000 hectare land under the Singatalur lift irrigation scheme, has been completed. The works would begin shortly.
To put an end to open-defecation, the government has constructed 3.61 lakh toilets, the minister added.

Gracing the occasion, Siddhalinga Swamiji of Tontadarya Mutt stated that the under-ground water table has been recharged by filling up the tank. Awareness should be created among the people on judicious use of water.

MLA G S Patil, Ramkrishna Doddmani, ZP chief Vasanna Kuradagi, Rupa Angadi, Renuka Korlhalli, Krishnangouda Patil, Shobha Meti and others were present.
