If you are a sucker for the Sharan kind of bizarre comedy, troop into Satya Harishchandra. The film may offer some festive cheer.

Loosely based on the 2013 Punjabi flick Singh Vs Kaur, which in turn was inspired by the Hindi film Singh is King, the rom-com is replete with crazy and comical situations.

Sharan and Chikkanna, the comic duo, are at it once again, in full zest. Of course, for those who have seen the two doing their trademark tricks, Satya Harishchandra will be a testing time.

Hyperactive bumpkin Harischandra is full of beans, but also a habitual lair troubling all and sundry in the village.

Then he falls head over heels in love. Is he playing a prank or is he really serious about life and love? The story unravels through some hilarious happenings.

With director Dayal Padmanabhan sticking to the familiar template, Satya Harishchandra has nothing new to offer. It never pushes the envelope, instead sticks to the Punjabi twist and turns.

The film's only surprise are the songs picturised in the exotic locations of Portugal, Melukote and Mysore. Gorgeous Sanchita Padukone and Bhavana Rao have nothing much to do except play second fiddle to Sharan who is gloriously over the top.
