Vidhana Soudha comes alive in all its glory for diamond jubilee fete

The Vidhana Soudha is all set for the Diamond Jubilee celebration which is to be held on Wednesday.

The state building is decorated with glowing lights and flowers. The interiors and exteriors of the masonry building are lit up with decorative lamps.

The repair work of stadium stairs and toilets is yet to be completed. The state government has released Rs 20 crore for the completion of this work under the Public Works Department.

President Ramanath Kovind will inaugurate the ceremony by addressing a joint session of the legislature at 11 am. He will then take a tour of the Assembly hall.

Members of both the Houses will pose for pictures with the President in front of the of Gandhi statue situated between the Vidhana Soudha and the Vikasa Soudha.

After the lunch at the banquet hall, short films will be screened on the majestic building. A documentary film directed by Girish Kasaravalli and T N Sitaram will be screened at 3 pm along with a 3D video reality show by Master Kishan.

 
Cultural events will be held from 5 pm to 6 pm on the east-facing steps of the building.

Tributes will be paid to three former chief ministers who were instrumental in the Vidhana Soudha becoming the state secretariat. The first chief minister K C Reddy, under whom the foundation stone was laid by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Kengal Hanumanthaiah who completed the construction of major portions of the Soudha and Kadidal Manjappa, who inaugurated the Soudha, will be felicitated.

Late evening, ace music director Hamsalekha's team will perform 'Rasamanjari' programme on the east-facing stairs. Also, a film on public welfare schemes will be screened by the Government of India through 3D mapping on the Soudha building.
