After a lull, rain lashes parts of state

Moderate to heavy rain lashed some parts of the state on Sunday.

Dharwad received heavy rain on Sunday afternoon, after a gap of around a month. The sky remained overcast since early morning and opened up towards the noon. Some roads in the city were waterlogged. Business at the Super Market came to a halt as traders had to run for cover. Motorists had a tough time in navigating the flooded roads.

The PB Road near NTTF was completely waterlogged following choked gutters. The vehicle-users had to wade through the water flooded road.

However, the rains did not cause any damage to properties nor there were any reports of trees and electric poles getting uprooted.

Rural areas of Dharwad taluk too received good rain.

Several parts of Uttara Kannada district received scattered rain late on Saturday night and early on Sunday morning. It drizzled for a while in Honnavar, Bhatkal, Karwar, Siddapur, Mundagod and Yallapur. Sirsi and the surrounding villages in Uttara Kannada district received rain late on Saturday night.

The showers damaged the harvested paddy and maize crops in the fields. It rained heavily in the rural parts of the taluk. A man sustained injuries in a lightning strike in Allanki village of Honnavar taluk.

A private bus crashed into a lorry due to poor visibility near Yallapur injuring more than 20 people. Villagers around Hosadurga of Chitradurga district received moderate rain on Sunday.
