Forest Minister, MP hurt in a bee attack

Forest Minister Ramanath Rai, Member of Parliament Suresh Angadi, Forest officials and participants, including students, were injured after a swarm of bees attacked them at a programme organised to mark the inauguration of the botanical garden near the Visvesvaraya Technological University here on Friday.

Minister Ramanath Rai inaugurated the park. The department had used a drone to film the event. A bee hive atop a tree was disturbed by the sound of the drone. The disturbed bees swarmed around and bit the participants. Chaos prevailed for some time as the participants ran helter-skelter.

Ramanath Rai suffered injuries when the bees stung near his eyes. Suresh Angadi had to abruptly end his speech and the two were rushed into their vehicle. The Forest officials and the students ended with up multiple bites and were rushed to the district hospital.
