Indira went to jail not for taking bribe: CM

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on Thursday that former prime minister had to go to jail during the Emergency and not on corruption charges like in the case of former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa.

Addressing reporters here, he said Yeddyurappa went to jail for taking bribe through cheque. His minister Katta Subramanya Naidu went to jail for the same reason, the chief minister said.

He demanded that the Centre provide grants for the state to purchase maize from farmers at support price.

Siddaramaiah blamed the BJP for trying to polarise the people in Honnavar on communal lines.
