Members of Vishwa Hindu Parishat and Bajarang Dal staged a protest here on Thursday, demanding the arrest of those who are responsible for the suspicious death of Paresh Mesta at Honnavar in Uttara Kannada district, and to give capital punishment for them.

After staging a protest at Sangolli Rayanna Circle, VHP and Bajarang Dal members moved to Mini Vidhan Soudha, raised slogans there also, and submitted a memorandum to the President of India through the tahsidlar.

"Paresh Mesta, who was an innocent person, was missing when violence took place at Honnavar. Later, he was found dead, and there is a doubt that fundamentalists might have murdered him brutally. Moreover, there are several doubts about the postmortem report obtained by the State Government also," protesters said.

The government should also extend full help to the family of Mr Mesta, they added.

Govardhan Rao, Chandrashekhar Gokak, Subhash Dank, Ramesh Kadam, Gangadhar Sangamshettar, and others led the protest.
