The civic body will take a week to verify the applications, while the final voters' list will be published on February 15, he added. The draft electoral roll was published on November 30 and a month's time was given for filing objections and making revisions.
In order to make the process of election smoother, polling booths having more than 1,400 voters will be regularised and new polling booths set up. A total of 575 new polling booths are coming up. Polling officers will undertake a special campaign to encourage enrolment, Prasad said.
The commissioner warned of criminal action against officials not attending the poll training programme. As many as 3,415 out of 5,518 election duty officers have skipped the training, he added.
The BBMP chief made it clear that people having voters' cards were not eligible to vote unless their names were on the electoral roll.
