Last Updated 12 January 2018, 19:28 IST

BJP leader and MLA R Ashoka, has filed a petition in the Karnataka High Court seeking quashing of the FIR registered against him by the ACB in the Bagair Hukum land scam.

The matter was posted for urgent hearing for Thursday. However, when the matter came up for hearing, Justice
K N Phaneendra asked the matter to be listed for hearing on January 18. Ashoka, who was the then chairman of the Bengaluru South Taluk Bagair Hukum Land Regularisation Committee from 1998 to 2006 and then Uttarahalli MLA, has been accused by the ACB of sanctioning the land to those not eligible for the same.

The petition says the allegations are false and the complaint was filed with the motive to harass the petitioner. The petition also says the complaint has been engineered by the ruling Congress which is trying to malign the petitioner as he is one of the top BJP leaders.
