The Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has sought the help of ministers Umashree and K J George to construct pink toilets for women and girls in all districts in the state.

In a letter to the ministers and district commissioners, the panel has referred to a pilot project of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) under which they installed hi-tech pink toilets in South Delhi, especially for women and girls.

The NCPCR had apparently written to all state commissions to work on implementing the project in their respective states.

The state panel has written to the ministers and district officials seeking their help to construct such exclusive toilets.

The information about the location of these toilets will be available on a mobile application. They will be open 24x7 and have women attendees. The toilets will also have vending machines to dispense sanitary napkins at a subsidised rate.

They will also have space to rest and will be furnished with ramps for the disabled.
