The Cow Protection Cell of the state BJP is organising a 24 hour 'Gau Raksha (cow protection) Ashtayama Yagna' to create awareness among people about the "multi-dimensional" importance of cows and the need to protect them to strengthen the rural economy.
The Yagna, which will start on February 2 with the chanting of Akhanda Ramayana, will end on February 3, a statement by Siddhartha Goenka, state convenor of the cell, said.
A special theatre troupe from Janakpuri, the birthplace of goddess Seetha, is also scheduled to perform a dance event titled 'Sri Rama's Wedding'.
State BJP president B S Yeddyurappa, Union Minister Ananth Kumar, MLAs B N Vijaykumar and Sathish Reddy will participate on the second day of the event.
The Yagna will be held at Sri Sathya Ganapathi temple ground, Puttenahalli, J P Nagar 6th Phase.
